Liquorice is not an acquired taste. It is in the genes. If liquorice is your favourite Jelly Belly bean, then the chances are it's your mother's favourite and your grandmother's favourite flavour, too. There is no escaping this and there is no blame attached. It's not your fault. Don't fight it, but by all means experiment with other flavours from time to time. And feed your own kids a bit of variety.
